Hot water will frizz hair!!!
I don't know if anyone remebers or not, but I was planning on having an Addy doll boy named Willard James....
I resently aquired him in a trade .
The doll was a early Addy, and the hair was very wiry and frizzy.
I did downey dunk on his hair. When I rinsed it, I ran it under as hot of water s possible to 'set' the conditioners in. I don't have a steamer and was afraid it would take the texturing out of his hair. None of the albums have any pointers for Addy doll's hair...
But I though that I would comment upon it...
PS I wish I would have taken pictures.....

It turned out great. It's very soft and fluffy, except at the very ends, which I will be trimming anyway, after I braid his hair into little braids.
Hot tap water doesn't frizz hair..... Some people hot water set their curls that way.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Didn't friz my felicity's hair. And actually someone posted about how a seller on ebay rinsed with hot water. It was about an Addy actually. So no it doesn't....Originally posted by MissCurlyCat:

HAHa this is too funny... I literally just finished giving my Addy a downy dunk! I only did the downy dunk no pre treatment. I let her soak for 2 hours instead of 1 because it seemed her hair needed it. I rinsed then used the recommended metal-less steamer. She looks stunning! I used semi warm water to rinse out her hair and that didn't friz at all either.
I didn't take any pics during the process just a before and after shot that you can see in another thread. I wanna see pics of your Addy!!
Also if you guys are looking for that steamer I found it on a site for 4.99 can't beat that!

From the information I've read here, and my own experience, hot water doesn't usually cause frizzing. Even boiling hot water seems to be ok, as long as the flame under the pot is turned off, and as long as the hair isn't touched to the hot metal pot. People have used boiling hot water to set curls in rollers.
The kind of heat that usually causes frizzies is dry heat, and metal heat.
I'm also curious about the steaming of Addy's hair. I haven't had the chance/need to try it yet. Does it take out the textured-ness, or does it just return it to its new state?

Addy's hair isn't all that hard to deal with, you just need patience and a water bottle to spritz her/his hair with.
1) Spritz hair with lots of water
2) divide into small sections and starting at the TOP of each section, slowly untwist the knots with your fingers. Keep spritzing with lots of water.
3) when the top part of her hair is unknotted, spritz again and brush gently from the bottom to the top using AG's hair brush or a wire wig brush.
It takes a long time and she/he will lose a lot of hair but it comes out looking nice!
